CEDC - Cymru Equality and Diversity Consortium - is a consortium of freelance consultants who operate in the housing and diversity sectors. CEDC was established in May 2003 and each of the consultants involved in CEDC is strongly committed to promoting the equality agenda. The consortium was established to increase the capacity of the individual consultants involved and to draw upon a wider skills base.

CEDC regards its primary role as supporting public, voluntary and private sector organisations to develop and promote the equality and diversity agenda. In addition CEDC also provides services in the housing anti social behaviour field.

CEDC operates primarily in Wales, working with the Welsh Assembly Government, local authorities, housing associations, voluntary agencies, race equality councils, health authorities and higher/further education authorities to:

  • produce Single Equality Schemes and Equality Impact Assessments

  • undertake reviews of organisational approaches to equality and diversity

  • provide training on equalities

  • develop of equalities strategies and action plans

  • develop policy on equalities, diversity and housing issues

  • research the housing needs of black and minority ethnic people, migrant workers, Gypsies and Travellers

  • reviews organisational approaches to anti-social behaviour

  • develop anti-social behaviour strategies
